When people think of real estate, they often picture ✨fancy houses, happy hours, and long lunches✨. And yes, sometimes it really does look like that. I’ve been to beautiful homes, celebrated closings with clients over a glass of wine, and enjoyed the perks that come with helping people make big moves in their lives.
But here’s the truth you don’t always see on social media:
- 🕷️ Swiping through spiderwebs in a basement while trying not to scream in front of clients.
- ❄️ Jumping a fence in the snow because a lockbox froze shut and we weren’t about to miss that showing.
- 🔦 Crawling into a sketchy crawl space with only a flashlight, just to track down a water heater or find the main shut-off.
(Yes, these are all true stories.)
The reality is, behind every polished “glam” real estate moment there are plenty of unglamorous ones. There’s me eating beef jerky in my car between showings and calling it lunch. There’s me hauling signs, wiping down countertops before photos, or shoveling a path to a front door because the seller didn’t get to it.
And honestly? I wouldn’t change it. Because real estate is about so much more than the pretty photos and smooth transactions you see online. It’s about solving problems on the fly, rolling with the unexpected, and being there for clients no matter what comes up — spiderwebs and all.
So next time you see me sharing a shiny new listing or a champagne closing photo, just know there’s probably a messy, funny, real-life story behind it too. And those behind-the-scenes moments? They’re part of what makes this job one of the most rewarding (and entertaining) careers out there.
